According to industry insiders, the days of over-the-top incentives common to tech companies not only appear to be over, but are also poised for significant layoffs.
VP, Global Total Rewards
Robert Hecker has served as vice president of global total rewards since September 2021. In this role, he is responsible for Unum’s health, medical, and retirement plans; wellbeing strategies; and compensation and rewards programs.
Previously, Hecker was the vice president of national client group services at Unum, where he was responsible for development and delivery of large case service strategy and administration for Unum’s 2,000+ employer block of business. He also served as vice president of Unum’s leave management center, vice president of voluntary claims operations, and vice president of long-term disability benefits.
Hecker earned his MBA from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Clark University in Worchester, Massachusetts. He holds executive education diplomas from Wharton Business School, Penn State University, and the IBM technology institute.
Hecker lives in Portland, Maine, where he has served on several nonprofit boards, including the Pine Tree Society of Maine, Unum Charitable Foundation, the Susan B. Komen Board -Chattanooga, Chattanooga Humane Educational Society and Unum’s United Way leadership council.
